Ramakanta Rath Dies at 90

Odia poet Ramakanta Rath passed away at 90 in Bhubaneswar. He was a Padma Bhushan awardee and renowned literary figure.

PM Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu expressed condolences. PM Modi praised his literary contributions and administrative skills.

President Murmu highlighted Rath's unforgettable contributions to Indian literature, offering her deepest condolences to his family.

PM Modi described Rath as a distinguished poet, scholar, and administrator. He expressed pain over Rath's passing.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi praised Rath’s contributions to literature and the Indian administrative service.

Rath's last rites will be performed with full state honors in Puri Swargadwar after the arrival of his son from abroad.

Born in Cuttack in 1934, Rath joined IAS in 1957 and retired as Chief Secretary of Odisha in 1992.

Ramakanta Rath was honored with the Padma Bhushan in 2006 for his immense contribution to literature.

Ramakanta Rath will be remembered for his enriching literary work and contributions to Indian literature. Om Shanti.

His famous works include "Kete Dinara," "Sri Radha," and "Sreshtha Kavita." He received multiple awards, including the Sahitya Akademi Award.
