This year, Chhath Puja spans from November 5 to November 7, beginning with the sacred ritual of Nahay-Khaye on the first day.

Why Celebrate Chhath?

According to scriptures, special Sun worship during Kartik protects health and grants blessings for children’s long life and happiness.

Day 1: Nahay-Khaye Ritual

Devotees purify themselves with a holy bath and prepare simple, pure food, symbolizing cleansing of body and spirit.

On Nahay-Khaye, devotees prepare rice, gram dal, and pumpkin without garlic or spices, using traditional earthen utensils.

Special Food Preparations

Day 2: Lohanda-Kharna Fast

On the second day, devotees observe a fast and break it in the evening with kheer made from sugarcane juice.

Day 3: Offering Arghya to the Setting Sun

Devotees observe a strict fast and offer arghya to the setting sun with Thekua and seasonal fruits on the third day.

Preparing Thekua for Chhath

Thekua, a special Chhath delicacy, is made from wheat flour and jaggery, symbolizing devotion and purity.

Day 4: Offering to the Rising Sun

On the final day, devotees offer arghya to the rising sun, concluding the fast with raw milk and prasad.
