Mumbai Faces Waterlogging, Traffic Chaos Amid Heavy Rain

Mumbai is under an orange alert as heavy rain continues to cause severe waterlogging and traffic disruptions. The IMD warns of further rainfall and possible flooding in key areas like Borivali, Thane, and Colaba. 

Orange Alert Issued for Mumbai Due to Heavy Rain 

The orange alert affects areas like: – Borivali, Thane, Kalyan, Mulund, Powai, Santa Cruz, Worli, Navi Mumbai, Colaba. Other parts of Maharashtra are also on alert.

Key Areas Affected by Orange Alert 

Flooded Streets and Delayed Trains in Mumbai 

Heavy rainfall has resulted in widespread waterlogging, triggering traffic jams across the city. Trains have been delayed, affecting local travel. Two fatalities and injuries were reported in Vikhroli due to landslides. 

Light to Moderate Showers Expected Today 

– Light to moderate showers (5-15mm/hr) expected today. – Gusty winds at speeds of 40-60 km/h. – Occasional heavy spells of rain expected, but no major waterlogging today.

Red Alert Issued After 200mm of Rainfall 

A red alert was issued on Saturday for parts of Mumbai and Maharashtra after over 200mm of rainfall. Heavy overnight rains worsened flooding and disrupted transport services. 

Heavy Rain and Thunderstorms Expected Till August 20 

Sky Sports sees progress with a predicted 8th place. Opta sees them struggling in 14th. 

Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Goa Under Alerts 

Madhya Maharashtra (Pune, Kolhapur, Nashik) is on red alert. Gujarat and Saurashtra are on red alert until August 20. – Konkan, Goa, and Vidarbha will experience strong winds and heavy rain.

Waterlogging and Delays Affect Daily Life in Mumbai 

Waterlogging continues in low-lying areas, causing major delays. – Roads and railways are submerged in many parts. – Expect major disruptions in daily life due to continuous rainfall.
